    Are French Drain's actually French?

Nope. The term “French Drain” is not related to the country of France. It is believed to have been named after Henry Flagg French, an American farmer and lawyer who popularized the technique in the mid-1800s.  Even though our internior drain systems are a type of “French” Drain, they are more specifically referred to as “Perimeter Drains.”  Because they drain your home foundation’s perimeter, not France.

Where does the interior drain get installed in a basement or crawl space?

Around the perimeter of your home’s basement or crawlspace.  Liftech’s SafeBasements™ drainage systems stop water at the perimeter of your basement and safely drain it away.  If you scroll up, you can see our drain installation process & where it’s installed.

How long do interior French perimeter drains last?

Generally speaking, a drains will last approximately 30 to 40 years.

Exterior vs Interior French Drains – Which system is better?

Both exterior and interior French drains provide effective protection against flooding and water damage in your basement. Yet, due to the costs and difficulty of installing and servicing an exterior drain on existing houses, it’s usually better to install interior drains.  There are several factors to consider, so consult with a Liftech experienced professional for best measures.
