Should I Replace or Repair My Concrete?

Whether you have been aware that your concrete is damaged for a while, or you have just started to notice cracks, it is important for you to take care of it ASAP. However, you may have been putting it off because you are not sure whether it needs to be repaired or replaced, and therefore, how much it’s going to cost you. Rest assured, whether you need a minor or major repair, at Liftech, we will always provide you with an honest assessment, and we will do everything we can to fix your damaged concrete. However, there are certain instances when replacement is the more practical choice. In this blog, we will go over how you can determine whether you need to repair your concrete with concrete leveleing, or replace it with new concrete.

You Can Repair Concrete When…

In many cases, we can repair your concrete. For example, if your concrete has settled, displaying only a few cracks, it will be no problem to repair. We can use polyurethane foam to perform concrete lifting that is quicker, more effective, and longer-lasting than mudjacking, the technique that was once the industry standard. We can also use caulking to seal any cracks, preventing moisture from seeping in and causing more damage to the concrete. This ensures that your repair will be worthwhile, as not only will your concrete be repaired, you can rest assured that it will stay in great condition for the life of your concrete. If your concrete isn’t heavily damaged by settling, we can quickly and effectively repair your concrete.

You Should Replace Concrete When…

However, if your concrete is more damaged, you may need to have to replace it entirely. Much of what determines if your concrete needs to be replaced or not is its age and the extent of the damage. Concrete generally lasts around 20 to 30 years, but that depends on how well you maintain it. If your concrete is towards the end of its life and is looking worse for wear, it is generally better to replace it, as you will need to soon enough. Additionally, if your concrete is severely damaged, it is more advantageous to replace it. If your concrete is so cracked, it looks shattered, there is little that can be done to repair it. Similarly, if your concrete is crumbling or heavily scaled, it is wiser to replace it than even attempt repair.
